Meet jodie minor
A native of Pickens County, Jodie has always lived a life passionately focused on improving the lives of others.
Raised in the “Big Creek Community” of Carrollton, Jodie learned the enduring values of compassion for others, hard work and faith from his grandmother—a local clothing factory presser and devoted church usher for over four decades.
Basketball opened Jodie’s door to higher education, earning him a scholarship that fueled his passion for lifelong learning. He credits his public-school teachers for helping him earn five college degrees.
As a decorated U.S. Army veteran, Jodie served in a variety of different military organizations —from recruiting and special operations to representing the Army on Capitol Hill. Most recently, as a federal employee, he served on the National Security Council at The White House under both the Biden and Trump administrations.
Jodie is licensed to preach the Gospel and is most honored to be the father to his four children: Jasmine, Taryn, Trey, and Maya.
After years of serving his country, Jodie would be honored to bring that same dedication and passion to AL Senate District 21!

Early Years
Jodie and his older brother’s lives revolved around family, church, school, sports, and the outdoors. Their grandmother instilled in them enduring values—respect for others, the importance of hard work, and unwavering faith.
After his brother was involved in a fatal single-car accident, Jodie channeled his grief into basketball, dedicating himself to the game. His perseverance paid off: he was named Pickens County Player of the Year, earned All-State honors, and secured a basketball scholarship to the University of West Alabama.

College
A lifelong learner, avid reader, and writer, Jodie has earned five college degrees including an Associate of Applied Science in Intelligence Operations from Cochise College, a Bachelor of Business from Athens State University, a Master of Business Administration from Alabama A&M University, a Master of Legislative Affairs from George Washington University, and a Master of Divinity from Virginia Union University.

Military Service
A decorated combat veteran, Jodie began his Army career enlisted as an Intelligence Analyst before becoming a commissioned Human Resources Officer. Over his distinguished 20-year military service, he was stationed across the United States and in Germany, and was deployed to Baghdad, Iraq with his military police unit during one of the most intense periods of civil violence in the country.
Among his numerous commendations, Jodie received the prestigious Lieutenant General Timothy J. Maude Award for being selected as the Army’s Human Resources Officer of the Year. His exceptional service led to his selection as an Army Congressional Fellow, where he served as Legislative Assistant to Congressman Robert Aderholt (AL-04), advocating for Alabamians. Jodie would later work for the Department of the Army’s Congressional Budget Office as a Liaison to the U.S. House of Representatives.
Above all his accomplishments, Jodie treasures the meaningful connections he forged with countless Army families and federal workforce members throughout his service – relationships that continue to inspire his passion service to improve the lives of others.

Community Service
Jodie has always been driven by a passion for helping others. From being recognized for sportsmanship at basketball camps as a teenager to coaching youth sports, mentoring young people, consulting adults, and ministering to others “where they are,” he is deeply committed to giving back. Inspired by one of his heroes, the Late Congressman John Lewis, Jodie strives daily to answer the question: “What are you doing for others?”
Licensed to preach the Gospel, Pine Grove Baptist Church in Carrollton is Jodie’s home church. He serves and worship with several churches in the community and is active with Pickens County Jail’s Ministry Program.

Priorities
For 20 years, Jodie upheld his oath to support and defend the Constitution, serving with the core values of the U.S. Army. Also raised with the strong, rural American values, Jodie believes that leadership must be guided by moral clarity, unwavering truth, and universal love—principles that will drive his service for you in our communities and in Montgomery.
Jodie will champion building coalitions and sponsor legislation that:
1) Spurs Economic Opportunity and Reduces Crime. Economic disparity and low educational outcomes are the key ingredients for the rising crime in many of our communities. Without a long-term economic strategy that connects rural and urban communities, we’ll keep pouring resources into jails instead of economic development initiatives. Jodie will work with stakeholders committed to real solutions—because every Alabamian deserves a fair shot at prosperity.
2) Guarantees Emergency Room Care for Every Zip Code. Since 2011, seven rural Alabama hospitals, including Pickens County Medical Center, have closed their doors, and 52 more are at risk of closing. Hard challenges require the strongest leadership. Jodie will lead the charge in the Alabama Legislature on this issue.
3) Delivers First-Class Services for our Veterans. No one understands a Veteran like a fellow Veteran. From care access to navigating claims processes, Jodie knows the battle and will fight to clear roadblocks so that his fellow Veterans receive the benefits that they have earned. He will carry the covenant from the Soldier’s Creed- “No Veteran Left Behind.”
Jodie’s mission is clear: rebuild trust in our democracy by expanding economic opportunity for everyday Americans, fighting to restore emergency room care access for Pickens County residents, fearlessly championing Veterans’ rights, and ensuring that every District 21 resident has a fair shot at their American Dream.
